Speed Dating in Dorset
As a veteran of the dating game I have endured the likes of tinder, bumble, pof, zoosk and match, I even took to an appearance on Channel 4’s First Dates with a pretty memorable experience!
Sure I know a few people who have been successful with internet dating, but the consistent message is the raft of people just fun hunting, the rudeness, the disregard, the ignorance, the dick pics, the ‘next best thing syndrome’.
Whilst living in London I had a go at Speed Dating. Hesitant and nervous almost ashamed I booked myself in to a session with a well known Speed Dating company called DateinaDash.
Arriving for the first time at a venue in the West End I was met by friendly hosts who immediately made me feel at ease, the environment mixed with a group of individuals who were all like minded and feeling a little apprehensive actually made for a really interesting and appealing vibe.
Months later I found myself a regular at the events, not necessarily thinking I was going to find the love of my life, but because the pre and after drinks were great fun, and the dating sessions were actually pretty funny!
I am of course still single like a billion other people, but with a fascination in dating and the world of relationships I started to look at a way to fill my time, not to challenge the likes of the larger companies, but instead to be more social and perhaps experiment with the idea of speed dating, singles events and dating events in and around Weymouth and Dorchester and broadly across the Dorset area.
So far it has been a fascinating experience, so different to London, people in Dorset, particularly West Dorset, Weymouth and Dorchester seem very nervous about the concept of Speed Dating. I am desperate for them to see that it really isn’t as bad as they think and certainly doesn’t deserve its taboo or stigma.
Drawing comparisons, when you speak to people who have lived in London they describe speed dating as a night out, a fun experience that you might do with house or flat sharers, friends and alike; whereas the extreme in Dorchester and Weymouth is that of one which is an unchartered nervous territory. If I could wear a banner it would say “don’t be nervous” “come and try it” “don’t take it too seriously” “give your internet dating swipe thumb a rest and try a new way of dating in 2019”.
If you’re interested in coming along to one of our events take a look at www.visavisdating.co.uk and head to the upcoming events page, we have dates for speed dating and parties in Weymouth and Dorchester. We are always looking for venues who would like a company to host a speed dating event for them.
